After a few days with some rain, and gray skies... today is a blue sky day in Kona. I like sooo much when is like this... blue Kailua-Kona. :-) I am posting today a picture of Tom showing one of our mango trees in blossom! Beauuutiful tree and... delicious mangos. The 2010 World Cup finals happened today! It was early morning, 8;30 am in Hawaii when Spain and Netherlands battled for the the 1st place, and it was an emotional game. Bothteams were playing hard and like to win the Cup very much. Neither one of them ever wan a World Cup before, and both teams were really playing hard for the achievement of their dream, to put a star on top of their team jersey's logo. The 90 minutes finished 0 - 0. No team scored. Then began the extra time, and at the end of the 2nd half, Andreas Iniesta scored a wonderful goooooooool for Spain. They played a beautiful game, and well deserved the ultimate price, to win, for the first time, an World Cup. Oleeee... Viva Spain!
A final da Copa de 2010 foi hoje. Era de manha cedo aqui no Hawaii, 8.30 da manha quando Espanha e Holanda batalhavam pelo primeiro lugar, e foi um jogo cheio de emocoes. Ambos os times jogaram tudo para vencer. Nenhum dos dois tinha ganho uma Copa do Mundo antes, e estavam jogando tudo para realizar o sonho de colocar uma estrela em cima do emblema do time, na camiseta oficial.Os 90 minutos do tempo regulamentar acabou no 0 a 0. Na prorrogacao, quase no final do segundo tempo eh que saiu um gooooooool lindo da Espanha chutado no canto por Andreas Iniesta. Eles jogaram bonito, e mereceram o premio, de ganhar pela primeira vez uma Copa do MundoOleeeee....... VIVA A ESPANHA!
ALOHA FRIDAY: is a day employers allow men to wear aloha shirts on the last business day of the week, in the summer months, for the comfort and also to support the 50th state garment industry. This was in the 60's when Aloha Friday began, and the young adults embraced the "aloha style" once a week, replacing the formal business wear. By the 70's " aloha wear" was accepted in Hawaii as a business attire for any day of the week, and slowly spread to California. Continuing around the globe until in the 90's, to become known as "Casual Friday".

Isso se iniciou nos anos 60, quando a ALOHA FRIDAY comecou por aqui, e os jovens embarcaram na onda do "estilo hawaiano", uma vez por semana, substituindo o traje social de trabalho. Nos anos 70 o "estilo aloha" ja era totalmente aceito como traje de trabalho no Hawaii durante a semana toda, e devagar foi se espalhando pelo estado da California. Continuando a ser divulgado pelo mundo todo, ate que nos anos 90 ficou conhecio como 'Casual Friday", ou "Sexta feira Casual".
Summer quarter classes begin tomorrow at the Kona Aquatics. I am so excited about this. I am going back to my swim lessons after a break of almost 3 weeks.It is so nice the feeling of floating without being scare, and to know that I can move my arms, and kick my legs and breath, all together in a nice way... this means; I swim ;-)Some months ago, or better, past year when I began to learn how to swim it was very difficult for me, but now I am loving it!!!Thank you so much Carol for all your attention and dedication in teaching us.
Comeca amanha na Kona Aquatics o Trimestre de Verao. Estou muito contente em recomecar minhas aulas de natacao depois de um intervalo de quase 3 semanas. E tao boa a sensacao de flutuar sem ter medo, e movimentar os bracos, as pernas, e respirar, de uma forma harmonica....aaaah isso eh nadar ;-) Ha alguns meses atras, ou melhor, no ano passado quando comecei a aprender a nadar era bem dificil para mim, mas agora estou adorando! Muito obrigada Carol, por toda sua atencao e dedicacao em nos ensinar.

Depois de mais de um ano de ausencia... VOLTEI!!! Tanta coisa aconteceu em todo esse espaco de tempo, que passou em branco aqui no meu blog. Nao vou hoje nem tentar resumir, ou lembrar do que foi realmente importante, e sim iniciar uma nova etapa, em que prometo a mim mesma, escrever e postar mais, sobre o que acontece por aqui, no HAWAII. Abaixo seguem fotos da grande inauguracao que ocorreu em Kailua-Kona, na 6a feira passada dia 2 de Julho. A loja ROSS dress for less, que abriu suas portas por aqui no inicio do ano 2000 mudou-se de endereco. Hoje ocupa um predio novinho localizado no Kona Commons Shopping Center, em frente ao Target. Kailua-Kona esta crescendo, e perdendo aquelo jeitinho de village, que possuia quando a visitei pela primeira vez, ha quase 20 anos atras! Bom, mas esse assunto ja eh estoria para outro post. After more than a year without write a word here... I AM BACK!!! So many things happened in this long period of time. I will not even try to remember, or write down what was important, better than this, I will begin a new era, and I promise to myself to post weekly, telling what is happening here in HAWAII. These pictures show the big inauguration we had this past Friday, July 2nd. The store ROSS, dress for less, who opened here for business around 2000, has changed address. It is now located in a brand new building at the Kona Commons Shopping Center, in front of Target. Kailua-Kona is growing, and losing that village atmosphere, that used to be around here when I first came to visit this beautiful city, almost 20 years ago. Yeeee, but this is a story for another post. Since you are here enjoying this blog, just look for the FOLLOW bottom on the right side of this blog and became a follower.
